What Is Distillate THC?

There are several different forms of cannabis available in the market today. While some of them are composed of a combination of cannabinoids, particularly CBD and THC, others are more refined extracts – often composed of one dominant cannabinoid – making them immensely potent.

Distillates are the latter kind – purest forms of cannabis, which makes THC distillate a product that consists of refined THC only (sometimes with a minute, almost non-existent, presence of other cannabinoids). THC is the cannabinoid associated with the psychoactive effects of the cannabis plant, which makes THC distillates (refined THC products) extremely potent and highly psychoactive.

For better comprehension: a gram of distillate THC may contain over 995mg of THC and 5mg of other constituents (if any).

THC distillates have thick, honey-like consistency, a color-spectrum that ranges between transparent to amber, and no flavor or aroma. Not only that, but distillates also lose other compounds like terpenes during the process of distillation.

However, selected terpenes are infused back into the THC distillate to attain the desired effects from the product.

Producing THC Distillate

Producing THC distillates require specific equipment which makes it a difficult job for most manufacturers. The detailed and technical process behind its production further makes it close to impossible for new or small-scale producers.

Distillates are produced by heating the extracted oil from cannabis in order to vaporize it. Once done, the producers use specific methods to capture the required cannabinoids from the vapor, ensuring that little to no other compounds make it into the final product.

THC Distillate Offers an Array of Consumption Alternatives

One of the best things about THC distillates is that it offers a variety of consumption alternatives to users. Those who want to inhale it can do so, while others may consume the product topically. Users can also administer it by using a THC distillate syringe to be dosed using a plunger.

A lot of people experiment with the different ways of administration before opting for the one that suits them best. The following section highlights some of the ways of administering THC distillates.

Oral Consumption

A common way to consume distillate THC is by using it like an edible. Your distillate’s packaging will suggest the consumption size per dose, which is usually about a grain of rice or less due to extremely high potency.

For further confirmation about the consumable size, you can weigh it. Usually, a piece of your THC distillate that is less than or about the same size as a grain of rice will weigh between 20mg to 30mg. Once you have the required amount, you can add it to your favorite, fill it in a gel capsule, or infuse it into the food of your choice.

Consumption Through Inhaling

Inhalation (smoking or vaping) has been one of the most popular ways of consuming cannabis. You can do the same with your THC distillate. If you have a vape with fillable cartridges, fill it with your THC distillate, and enjoy vaping.

Patients often use this method of consumption in order to experience the quick onset of the product. However, due to the nature of THC distillates, they can be a little more intense than smoking or vaping a strain.

Topically

You can also administer your THC distillate topically by mixing it with your preferred cream or lotion. People often use this method for two main reasons: to minimalize or avoid the psychoactive effects altogether, and to acquire relief from localized pain.

Benefits of Distillate THC

THC distillates can be used for a variety of problems, including:

  • Chronic pain
  • Mood
  • Insomnia
