Humulene got its name because it is a predominant terpene in humulus lupus (better known as hops). Aside from lending beer its “hoppy” aroma, humulene expresses an appetite-suppressant quality, making it an ideal terpene for patients who are worried about gaining weight as a side effect of medicating with cannabis. Like other terpenes, humulene shows promise in inhibiting the growth of tumor/ cancer cells, and is useful for reducing inflammation.

Aroma: woody, earthy, herbal, spicy

Effects: pain relief, appetite suppressant, anti-inflammatory, anti-tumor

Also Found In: hops, ginger, sage, ginseng

High Humulene Cannabis Strains: Gorilla Glue #4, Tangerine Dream, Liberty Haze, Sage N Sour, and Cush (aka Green Crack).
