By November 14, 2017 No Comments

If the time has come for Las Vegas Marijuana Dispensary renewal, you’re probably wondering what type of process you’ll need to go through. Here’s some information that will hopefully answer many of your questions.

Renewing a Medical Cannabis Card

Depending on the state in which you live, you might be able to go into your doctor’s office to renew your medical marijuana card. If you go back to the physician who provided your original medical marijuana recommendation, his or her office should already have all of your medical information. All you should need to bring will be your driver’s license or ID card to prove you still live in the state.

If you’re renewing and are seeing a new doctor, you’ll need to bring in your original card as well as your ID. You should also bring in any pertinent medical records in order to speed the process — although doing so is typically not required.

the Medical Marijuana Division of the Nevada Division of Public and Behavioral Health changed the process for patients to obtain medical marijuana cards. There is no longer any need to visit the DMV for patient cards. To apply and pay for a medical marijuana card, patients now use the Medical Marijuana Program’s (MMP) online system.

“Medical Marijuana Patient Card Registry.” From there, click “Online Cardholder Registry” to create an account, scan your driver’s license, download and print your application. As before, to submit an application, you still need a physician’s recommendation and you’ll need to sign the waiver and acknowledgement in the presence of a Notary Public. Once your application is complete and signed, you scan and upload it to the MMP site. Letters of approval may be received in as little as 24 hours and can be printed and used in dispensaries until your patient card arrives in the mail.

STEPS TO GET YOUR CARD

STEP 1: REGISTER ONLINE AND PRINT YOUR APPLICATION.

The first step in filing for your Cannabis Dispensaries near me Card is to register online. To begin, visit the Nevada Department of Public and Behavioral Health website. You’ll need your current Nevada state issued driver’s license or state issued identification card. Once you are on the Medical Marijuana Program’s page (MMP),

STEP 2: VISIT A RECOMMENDING DOCTOR

Once you have your application in hand, you are free to visit any doctor you choose. Some doctors specialize in medical marijuana recommendations and may require medical records to support your need for medical marijuana. Our friends at Cohen Medical Center and Paradise Clinic are offering inexpensive doctor consultations.

STEP 3: UPLOAD YOUR COMPLETED PAPERWORK TO THE MMP.

Once your paperwork is completed by your physician and notarized, as well as your doctor recommendation and notarized waiver and acknowledgement forms, you can upload it directly to the MPP website (the same website where you registered your account). Letters of approval can come as quickly as 24 hours.

STEP 4 (FINAL STEP!): WAIT FOR YOUR CARD IN THE MAIL.

Patients no longer have to go to the DMV to obtain their physical cards. The DPBH and the DMV are now working together so that cards are directly mailed to patients. Once you receive your letter of approval, your card will be automatically mailed to your address on file.

UNDERSTANDING THE NEVADA MEDICAL MARIJUANA LAWS.

It’s also important to understand the Nevada medical marijuana laws before diving into your consultation for a recommendation.

Once you get to the office, simply mention that you’re there to renew a medical cannabis card and show your ID (and records if you have them) to a staff member. If you’re going to a new doctor, be sure to bring either your original card or physician’s recommendation. You’ll probably need to fill out some paperwork, as well.

It’s very important to realize, however, that just because your card has expired doesn’t automatically mean you’ll be able to get a new one. The doctor will have to evaluate you to make sure you qualify. Your medical condition, for example, may have improved substantially. As a result, the doctor may no longer feel that you need medical marijuana as part of your treatment. Please don’t assume your renewal will be approved.
